Welcome to theaudience, it’s great to have you on board. Whether you’re an artist or a music fan, a manager or a gig-goer, there’s something special we all share — a love of music.
theaudience has been developed for all the music lovers out there, as a socially interactive and engaging music website that specifically focuses on unreleased New Zealand songs and supporting those within the New Zealand music scene.
Our website will become your one-stop shop for discovering new local music, both from well-known and up-and-coming artists. Yes, theaudience will be the ultimate music discovery machine!
We also think it’s time you had your say, because after all, what is a musician without their fans? Every time you vote and interact with an artist, you are influencing both the Released, and the Unreleased Chart.
Ten times a year the number one track on the Unreleased Chart goes forward for a $10,000 NZ On Air Making Tracks grant. That money would contribute to the making of a recording and video. NZ On Air expects to fund one song selected by theaudience per funding round. It doesn’t matter what genre the track sits in, whether it is commercial or alternative, who it’s by or who is behind it; in fact the only thing that does matter is that it is a fantastic track and enough people like it. We call it the Wild Card!
We won’t keep you any longer — time is precious and there’s a veritable feast of tracks for you to wrap your ears around. But whether you have a leisurely afternoon of aural pleasure ahead of you, or you’re just sneaking on quickly while your boss is out of the office, we really hope that this, and every visit, is an exciting voyage of musical discovery.
