It all started in January 2007, when Swiss rockers “Redwood” toured Europe with New Zealand's rock trio “The Feelers”. Redwood’s singer, Lesley Meguid, fell head over heels in love with The Feelers original bassist Matt Thomas: “He was bearded, wore old man pants, and off stage, not a rock star at all!” Soon after that, Matt introduced her to New Zealand. They slept in his Nissan station wagon, swam in the sea, played music on the black sand and filled their bellies with shellfish.

Lesley’s debut solo album “The Truth About Love Songs” describes the whirlwind of this great adventure. The album features local artists Geoff Maddock (Golden Horse), Gareth Thomas (Goodshirt) and Matt himself (The Feelers), as well as drumming legend Steve Gadd.

Shortly after meeting, Lesley left her band of 12 years, Matt left his band of 15 years and from then on the couple has been making beautiful music together. At first they were living in Switzerland but now they have settled back in Aotearoa.
